Hawkedon from Thurston End
Queens Head

Welcome to The Queen's Head
An award winning 15th Century Free House in the conservation village of Hawkedon. Superb cask ales, extensive wine list, seasonal menu, luxurious apartments

Hawkedon

The Queen nestles off the beaten track in the picturesque conservation village of Hawkedon, for many people the quintessential English village with church, timber framed cottages, manor farm and pub all surrounding the village green

Food

Providing an excellent and imaginative seasonal menu, we have long been a pioneer of traditional, hearty, robustly flavoured food sourcing produce from local suppliers wherever possible for many years

Beer

The Hawkedon Queen has been respected for many years as one of the few true Free Houses with a robust and knowledgeable drinking trade drawn from all walks of life and backgrounds and a high throughput of craft beers to ensure a great selection of cask conditioned ales

Wine

We select our bottles carefully and naturally hope to offer really interesting drinkable wine at reasonable price points. Our Wine Tasting Evenings are regularly hosted throughout the year and are great fun

Classic

As a picturesque country pub with a supportive local community there’s usually something going on at The Queen whether it’s a regular monthly event, an annual or a simply a one off

FULL OF UNIQUE CHARACTER AND CHARM

We took over The Queen’s Head in 2003 and have always sought to offer hearty, nourishing food sourcing produce from local suppliers where possible. In the past we have bred our own lamb, hogget, mutton, pork and beef for the table and what started as a hobby proved sufficiently popular that we opened our own Butcher’s Shop. Although we no longer have this – we’re currently producing our own beer – the contacts we made still ensure the very best produce for the kitchen.

In addition to imaginative menus we also offer a superb selection of cask conditioned ales, our own as well as from other brewers, traditional cider, again some homemade, together with an extensive wine list and selection of gins.

As a West Suffolk CAMRA Pub of the Year, The Queen is also featured in the Good Beer Guide, the Good Cider Guide and is a UKTV Local Food Hero.
