GOOSE HALL VINEYARD & ORCHARDS

Goose Hall is a mile or so from the The Queen’s Head, Hawkedon with a newly planted vineyard and an old established orchard.

VINEYARD

The vineyard is in the early establishment phase having been planted in May 2022 with chardonnay, pinot meunier and pinot noir spread across a number of clones and rootstocks which we hope in due course will provide English sparkling wine as well as single variety still wine.

ORCHARDS – APPLE JUICE & SUFFOLK CYDER

The orchard At Goose Hall is long established. We nuture and handpick our delicious apples remaining true to our Suffolk heritage and passion.

Each year we make a limited amount of apple juice using the first press from the various trees in the orchard which bottled and pasteurised. Some of these bottles are used for the breakfasts of overnight guests staying at the pub with the remainder bought to take home by customers.

However, we turn the majority of the juice into our renowned Suffolk Cyder. Unfiltered and unpasteurized this is full of fresh, crisp acidity with silky tannins and apple blossom aroma. Mouthwatering and medium-bodied with a soft sparkle and complex, elegant finish. As demand has grown we also now source the juiciest Suffolk fruit for added depth and complexity.

MONTY DUKE’S WILD SUFFOLK FRUIT LIQUEURS

We also craft a selection of traditional fruit liqueurs using branded spirits – Tanqueray Gin, Absolut Vodka, Jameson Irish Whiskey and Three Barrels Old Rare French Brandy. These are handmade in the traditional Suffolk way using truculent teenage labour to handpick the finest fruit and berries from our orchard and the ancient hedgerows surrounding Monty Duke’s estates at Goose Hall, Brockley & The Queen’s Head, Hawkedon.

The harvest is steeped in premium spirit and matured for at least a year in stainless steel barriques to Monty Duke’s secret recipe for an intense, complex and sumptuous fruit liqueurs. Hand crafted and unfiltered we hope you adore this premium fruit liqueurs.

Perfect neat in the field, over ice or mix 35ml in the glass topped up with English Sparkling Wine or Champagne for the most satisfying Sloegasm!

We can also create a unique label and bespoke brand our bottles for you, for example for your shoot or company.

Open from 4pm, with Steaks & Pizza served every Thursday between 5.30pm to 8pm
Friday:
Open from 3pm, with Fish & Chips & Pizza served every Friday between 5.30pm to 8pm
Saturday:
Open from Midday, with Sandwiches & Fries served between 12pm and 2pm. Bar open all day from midday to 10.30pm
Sunday (Bar only):
Open from Midday to 10pm
If you would like to dine with us on days when we do food it is best to make a reservation in advance as we have limited numbers and these sessions tend to fill up quickly
